The Emanuel Ensemble was founded by Anna Stokes in 2001 and is dedicated to exploring music old and  new, focusing predominantly on works for "flute, violin, viola, cello" and "flute, cello & piano". The group has a select "pool" of players who play with the ensemble, of which are all graduates of the RCM and RAM.

Recent engagements have included recitals at the Purcell Room as part of the "Fresh" Recital Series, Nicholas Maw's 70th Birthday Concert at Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall - Sir James Galway International Masterclass 2007, Leeds International Concert Series, Schubert Society of Great Britain, St Martin-in-the-fields, National Gallery, V & A Museum and St Georges Church, Mayfair amongst others. Other performances have included venues such as Villa D'este - Lake Como, Italy, Kensington Palace, National Gallery, V & A Museum in the presence of HRH Prince Charles as well as performing at a charity event at St James’s Palace in the presence of Princess Alexandra. The quartet have also given a workshop for 'Arts & Business'.

The interesting combination of flute, violin, viola and cello enables the group to perform an array of music from Baroque to Contemporary styles. Due to the versatile nature of the ensemble, they are also able to include instruments such as the piano, harp, voice, percussion, woodwind and other string instruments where neccessary.
